I dont think I would want to try it just for the fact that it would still be trying to pump oil from the injection system and there wouldnt be any oil in it.

you can do it, all you do is take the white gear out of it and it will have nothign to turn so it won't pump, thats all. but you have to leave the whole pump in there so the transmission oil doesn't come out, the kit comes with a plate but it doesnt really matter.

thats a good idea, i never thought of doing it that way. thanks a lot. my son posted this question, we are on our second top end rebuild in 8 weeks. i know why it needed the first one but i dont really know what happened this time. we put it back together and itwas running great. he wrecked it and turned it end over end a couple of times and it landed upside down. the quad sat that way for 5 to 10 minutes while we made sure he was all right and then we took it home. he rode it the next weekend and it didnt want to idle quite right, sometimes high and then sometimes it would quit. he rode it for about an hour ad a half and the piston seized up. we were told when it sat upside down it got air in the injection lines so thistime when it goes back together we wil mix our own. i just hope thats what was wrong but nobody else can come up with anything else that it might have been.thanks again for the idea

It is fine, and you get better gas mileage....

I mix My oil/gas as follows: 91 Oct. Gas w/ 40:1 Motule oil or 36:1 Yamalube 2R

Just take off the oil tank and hoses. LEave the pump on and cut the hose going to the carb and put a small screw in it to keep dirt out. Had injector off for 4 years, never seized. Re-attach it once a year for riding trip to colorado.

-If you are SOOOOO worried about the injector sezing up, put some oil in it and get a pice of hose and clamp both ends to the injector hose spots. IT will just pump through, over and over and over......

Dont waste 30 bux on nothing.

atvman,
it's only like 20 bucks, and it's easy to put on, too.
