Raptor Cluth Replacement.. gonna kill a yamaha engineer for this!
#1
Who in the HECK would ever want to pull a motor to swap a clutch?? WTF
I skipped step 1 in the yamaha repair manual for OBVIOUS reason.. cause I ain't pulling the motor to replace the clutch....
SO I get to removing the clutch cover.. HA HA HA.. so here I am unbolting the entire motor, raising it it up an inch or 2 so I can get the case off! URG!! UGH!!
Would it have killed them to notch the frame or move the motor up a frigin inch so the clutch could EASILY be accessed??
Note: I didn't have to pull the carbs, exhaust or anything else, just unbolt the motor from the frame and jack it up some.. anyone else found a better way?

Well I finished my clutch last night, it's really not that bad to 'loosen' the motor and raise it up.
It adds maybe 30 to 45 mins total work to the job, now that I know what I'm doing. I just think a little better design would have allowed it to stay bolted in.
Just a heads up to everyone with a bad raptor clutch that's looking at replacing it soon...

Wonder if some company will machine the side case like you see from Hinson for Banshees and you unbolt the small cover and have easy access to the clutch. Of course you'd be without the cover for however long they take but it'd be worth a couple hundred bucks if you're gonna keep it for a few years.

I did it without loosening the motor. I was a pain to be sure... But I removed the peg and all that junk, and took out all the cover bolts (make sure you remember where they came from, cause they're diffferent lengths. The only trick I used was that I could unscrew the lower left bolt all the way, but I couldn't actually take it out, cause the frame was in the way. No biggie, just pulled the rest of the bolts, and then pulled the side cover off with the bolt still in the cover (but unthreaded). To put it back in, I did the reverse. The only time the frame got in my way was with the cover.
