I just picked up my 2002 Raptor and it has a rev limiter for reverse.
This really stinks when your stuck in the mud the motor cuts out way to early.
Other than backing off the trailer it is useless.

Some times the parking brake gets engaged while in reverse causing the rev limit hits. I removed mine a put a block off plate because of the same problem.

There is a rev limiter in the revese light circuit. On the left side of the bike is a wire harness find the one that has power when in reverse.(the wire plugs in on the right rear top of the case) Ground out this wire and it will solve your problem. You can also take a normal on off toggle switch and run the ground like you would the power but don't ground the switch. When the circuit is grounded the reverse light won't work.

ON the rear top of the moter is a plug with one wire going to it. IF you pull that wire it loses its ground and the reverse light will come on in any gear. So if you leave it pluged in and splice a wire into that wire and then run it to the frame somewere it grounds out the circuit. This fools the sensor telling it that it not in reverse when is really is. If you take a switch and run the wire spliced into the limiter wire and plug it into one of the power poles and on the other power pole run it to the frame. This allows the over ride to be turned on and off. When the over rice is on the reverse light doesn't work. Once you find the wire that powers the sensor it is all down hill. Hope this helps if not let me know and I will try to explain it even more. This also works on Kodiak's and Grizzly 600's.
