I have a 2000 grizzly and am thinking of dropping the carb from a 40mm to a 38mm. Does anyone no if it is ok to do that. It will get better gas milage that way. I heard that i won't loose much top end or power. Is this so. Or is it dangerous to drop jets?
Thanks

Yam8,
If your dropping your carb from a 40mm to a 38mm, you have to replace the whole carb. These numbers are the diameter size of your carb's venturi. This is not something a jet change will accomplish for you. I don't see it hurting anything if you get the new carb tuned right. I switch the carbs on my jet-ski's all the time (44m for low-end and 47mm for more mid-top end). I personally wouldnt't recommend changing the carb on your Grizz. I don't think you'll save enough on fuel consumption to warrant the cost and hassle of changing the carb. The Grizzly's are tuned a little rich in stock form. I turned my mixture screw in about a 1/2 turn and installed a K&N and mine runs much better now. I guess it still consumes some gas, but I'm used to that. I can kill over 20 gallons of fuel in my jet-ski in less than a day with my triple 47mm's.

Yam8,your the SAME person who earlier BRAGGED about the Grizz's greatness in other Forums, and now you want more gas milage? I find this VERY funny. Why did you buy a Grizz if you wanted gas milage? Not anyone I know of bought their quad with gas milage as a major concern. Some liked the larger tank sizes offered though.Maybe you should get some more customers for your paper route.Than you'll be able to afford the gas that the Mighty Grizz ask for.[im tooo funny]===BILL

You can switch, but that would not make a great difference.

The Fuel consumption is not that much less,
then a 500's.

Yamahonda was right about the richness of the mixture, and his solution was correct,
however before you try anything make sure you know what your doing, or have someone who dose. optimal Air/Fuel Ratio is between
18.to 1 and 18.65 to 1

Oh Yeah a real Side Splitter.

Almost as Good as when he told me to
"Take a Walk on the Wild Side".

"Mighty Grizz" why must he always say that?

Despite all your denial and quoting Lou Reed,
I still see a Deep Rooted Hostility toward the Grizz.

Let It Go!(if that is the problem)

Who is truly acting in the "Paper Route" stage
of maturity in this current Thread?

Good Day

I will agree on his eariler posts yam8
was childish.

I for one like the Sportsman and feel that
without it, we would have no Grizz, Magnum,
Praire, 00 Kodiak or any other Great Utility
Quads.

But as far as I can see yam8 has toned down.

Give Him credit for that!

Oh, Whisky so Clever so original

Now how about "Put that in your Snifter, and Suck It"

"Take that to the Bank" whoa too much

Try "Ship Can't take the Storm, keep'er in
Port"

The Irony of my post was lost on both.
and the Question was anwser'd in the
predictable.

"Nothing New Under That Sun"
