When I picked my Grizzly up the dealer told me that was normal and I ride with a group that has several Grizzlys and they all stay engaged shortly after starting

I have a '00 Grizz and it's great. My one gripe is when I start it up the starter gear stays ingaged for a bit and makes a terrible sound, anyone else experience this?

I have a 99 Grizzly and had some problems someone may know a little about. It all started when it would load up and sputter a bit then it would go on.It did this when we were easing around real slow a lot.I leaned the fuel mixture a bit and it stopped it.Then a week ago it started to smoke when I first cranked it up.Usually for about 15 sec. and it was blue smoke. It scared me and I richened it back up and it has almost quit smoking now.Question is are my valve seals gone now or did the change of mixture help it?If anyone knows what the idle fuel mixture should be set at please let me know!!!
