you should try not to let watter get over the black pannel on the front (hood so to speak) that is where the intake for the belt is along with the breather tubes for the diffs. The exit for the trany vent is in the back behind the tail light. If you need to drain watter you dont need to remove the cover there is a drain,it is a 12mm or 13mm bolt with a coper gasket. There is a hole in the skidplate to access it. Its located about 2" from the edge of the aluminum case NOT IN THE PLASTIC. Just keep a rachet with the proper socket in your seat storage. If it gets wet drain it out and let the quad idle in neutral for 5 min to dry out and you are ready to go. Hope i could help

I slipped the foot part of some pantyhose over my vents. The vents still breath and while major water may still get in, the nylon does a good job of keeping small amounts of water and dust out. I can hear the questions now? Did you use something like L'eggs or a generic pantyhose? Which gave you better performance, etc.....

I agree with all the above. On water crossings at a brisk pace. If you mean a few inches go ahead. But if you are talking about over the tires then what is Brisk?
A cup of water over the Hood should do nothing more than gather in the valley around the hole. There is a "Check Hose" that is supposed to drain the valley. If a cup did get in the intake tube it should do no more than coat the tube.
I have photos of the hood off if you would like to view it reply here or e-mail me.

I read that post and went to view it. You need to jack her up high and crawl under to see it.
The drain plug is small and in line with one (Iforgot wich one)of the floor board mounts. There is an access hole for it in the skid plate. It has a Copper washer. The big plug is for the oil.
