I know this is common but I don't know how to fix it. My bashee kickstarter has been making that awful rattling noise and finally seized in the up position. While I have finally freed it up in the process whatever was in there holding it flew across the room and I couldn't find it. I put it back together and now it won't stay in place. I know for sure I need the ball bearing but is that all that it has in there also are there any kits from anyone to fix it permanently and what have you guys done about this problem
thanks for your help

This has been covered on numerous occasions (do a search) so I'll be brief. There is a ball bearing, a short stiff spring, o-ring and grease that all need to go in there. Gather up the appropriate sizes of each and you'll be good as new. The kickstarter is an annual or semi-annula maintenance item for Banshees.

Agreed....the kick starter spring and ball are always the first thing to go on a banshee. If you order a new set from your dealer, it will only run you a few bucks. If you want to keep the rattle down. Go to a hardware store and get a teflon(plastic) washer. It will at least keep the kicker from rattling all over the place.

I just took the ball bearing right out of mine. I was having a lot of problems with the darn thing sticking. However, when you take it out the kick starter is free to move where ever it wants so you have to keep it in place with a tie strap or mini bungee cord. I used a mini bungee cord on mine and it works great (no rattling or anything).

Piranha:

I bet every banshee rider has tied their kick starter at least once. It's good for trail rides. But if your racing...there is no time to reach down and unhook a bungee.

I'm sure that you are right. Tying it is a pain (although it doesn't take me any longer to kick it over now, then it did when it wasn't tied), but since I never race it beats going to my dealer and buying new bearings every few months.

Man, you would think that after 14 years that Yamaha could come up with something to fix that problem. LOL.

Hey Wyoduner, Nice update to your website, but may I make a few suggestions on your videos. When riding the Warrior on 2 wheels, pop that sucker up into a 1 wheel wheelie and youll score all the chicks(yea your married, but hey, you'll almost be a cool as me then.) Next, When riding the banshee and doing a 180, dont forget to get it into a wheelie just as you complete the turn, again, chicks dig this! Although I can do the tricks, I have not scored the chicks, but I think that may change someday...I hope!!!

Later

RoostKing...
