Hey Guys -

I have a 02 Banshee with about 30 minutes of riding on it and it has already fouled a plug. The dealership has it running really rich right now.

As soon as this tank is gone, I am going to start running 32 to 1 mixture. What plug gap should I run??? The manual shows 24 to 1 at .7mm - .8mm...

Any help would be appreciated.

I am looking at the manual right now and under "Engine Mixing Oil", it says to use Yamalube "R" with a mixing ratio of 24:1.

Mine is completely stock with not even an hour on it, so I figured I would use 32:1 for the first few tanks.

I know they changed plugs on the 02, atleast that is what the guy at the shop told me last night when I bought 10 of them...

I've been running 32:1 in my bike since i bought it and have had no problems. I'm not sure what they would have changed, I know some of them are running the resistor plugs. No real difference. I've always ran Yamalube 2R, good stuff as far as I can tell.

Good, then I will just run the 32:1 mixture with stock gap...

The new plugs are the BR8ES.

plug gap .024-.028, run yamalube 2r at 40 to 1, don't listen to the BS about yamalube I've ran my banshee at 40 to 1 since day one for the last 2+ years and never fouled a plug, just did a service a month ago and changed over from the original B8ES to the BR8ES, the BR8ES allow the coils to saturate a little longer hence creating more arc over voltage at the gap.

Let's see I have run Yamalube in my banshee for 8 years. i don't think i've fouled but maybe a couple of plugs. We've torn it completely down once just to check the crank and the trans, i run yamamlube in the bottom end also. No build up. Pistons had nill for carbon build up, less than some that have been running belray or maxima and some other types of oil. Depends on your mixing, plug, and keeping the carb dialed in I guess. Everyone has different experiences with different things, some will be good with a product and others will be bad. Torco Oil is also a good oil, but hard to find.

think about this for a min. the 32 to 1 is just fine but u dont get any horsepower out of your mixture, all that is is the amount of oil in your gas that lubes your topend, so the richer u run it the better. i run mine at 40 to 1 and have had no problems. i ran yamalube but i kept fouling plugs so i changed to silkoene comp 2, and haven had that problem any more.
