I have always put premium (93 octane) fuel in my bikes and ATV's, but reading this forum has made me wonder if that was a mistake. What octane fuel runs the best in stock Raptors? I have an E-series slip on, air box mods, and snorkel mods, but I think that probably the only thing that matters are the engine internals. Has anyone done any testing to see whether low, mid, or high octane is best suited for the Raptor?

Thanks,
Lorrin

I hear 89 runs just fine with it. I wouldnt run 93 constantly in it. 89 would be efficient.

The higher the octane the slower it burns to resist premature combustion or spark knock in high compression engines. using a higher octane than necessary can actually cost you HP & lead to carbon buildup in the combustion chamber. the manual says to use a pump octane number([R+M]/2) of 86 or higher or a research octane number of 91 or higher. I use ([R+M]/2) 89 & have no knocking. Look on the gas pump to see which octane rating is used where you are.
