Wolverine vs. Scrambler 500 4x4
#1
Hey guys -- any opinions on which of the "sport 4x4s" is generally the better machine? I'm from Buffalo and I ride in all conditions, from snow in the winter to mud in the spring to dirt/mud in the summer.

Huge difference between the prices but I JUST got back from looking at ATV's and I looked at both of those. I would go for the scram if it was between just those 2. 300 vs. 500. I dont think either is all that sport but I would buy the scram for the auto and the 500.

I have to agree that a 500 liquid would be nice to have, but there's more to consider.
If you really want a sport quad, but have to have 4wd, then pick the scrambler.
If you really want a sport quad, but have to have a 4wd utility quad, then go for the Wolverine.
The Wolverine is a little less sporty, but is a much better compromise if you need a quad that will do everything.
The Scrambler is a bit more focused on the sport aspect.

neighbor has 2 polaris's, all he does is work on them, maybe its him i don't know but, like new fie said, if its the utility part, id go with the wolverine or even the big bear, i have the '02 bigbear 400 4x4 in and out of 2and 4wd gives it a little sportyness, letting me slid and gat crazy, and the 4wd keeps me out of trouble. plus the auto clutch is not so bad, ( better than a full on auto), better for u will depend o mainly how u ride. not too many people do big air on their utilities, i'd test ride each one if poss. to help make the money easier to part with.

I ride my bosses wolv alot. I love it. It is the lightest most nimble 4x4 I have ever seen. It is a little down on power but he has 25" mud tires on it. They also make all kind of after market goodies for them. Now after saying that I haven't had much time in the seat of a scrambler. Polaris also has the reliabillity issue that I would worry about.

I have spent a fair amount on both the scram and the wol. I own a wolverine. I like the scrambler the automatic is nice, but it causes your legs to be further apart, on an open fire road or something the scrambler is faster, through a tight trail i find my wolverine to be a little more nibble. Also my buddie has had to put a lot of time and money into keeping it going, new chain and sprockets, front struts, rear shock rebuild, and numerous other things. I have had no majour problems with my wol, it is a 99 the scram was a 98. you mentioned you ride in snow and mud, the wolverine is lighter and eaiser to get unstuck. No matter what consider what kind of riding you do and what the bike will be used for, and base your decision on that, drive both is poss.
