wolverine starter failure!!!

do any wolverine owners know about a problem with early wolverine starter gears that strip and consequently ruin the camshaft, was there a mod to stop this happening,they only made wolverines over in england for a couple of years,i really want one but most have this problem any help please!!

I know of a starter problem, but i don't know if it's teh same thing that you're talking about. My starter stripped the drive cog and the idler gear, but it did not cause a problem with the cam shaft, and I don't see how it could. Instead I think it was cause by a worn cam chain.
The fix that I used was to start it with the recoil starter. Works really well.

You may be hearing a low watt or amp battery. This happend to our wolvy about a year ago when tha battery drained while riding. At first i though the starter was shot becasue we were going through water above the starter. Then I though My buddy screwed the gear up. Accually it was a dead battery that still was putting out 12 volts. Just filled the cells up with distilled water and charged, workerd fine since.
