I wouldn't use the 10w-30 since it is "Energy Conserving" and contains friction modifiers which may cause your clutch to slip. The 10w-40 shouldn't, but check the back of the bottle just in case.

Right now I am using BP Amoco 10w-40. It is non "Energy Conserving." When it starts to get hotter outside I will start again and make my own special premium oil brew.

There is a test between motorcycle and automitve oils floating around the web now. What it boils down to is that motorcycle specific oils are priced 315% higher than automotive oils, break down 50% faster, and don't treat the motor any better/differently than automotive oils.

The oils that got the best praise: Mobil1 and Castrol GTX.
