o look it me i can go fast in a str8 line.........who give's a Sh&* mmaannn this topic is just gettin stupid.ok i know speed in the dune's is a big deal because it don't matter how your quad handle's.nor would you ever notice anyway's you go fast and jump jump's and sit around and look slick on your cromed out ride's see this is where the gap mainly east cost fighting west cost here.say a boat sank way out 1000's of miles from land the two people on the baot with there life vest's with shark's everywhere saying mmaannn i wish we had another boat many many many mile's away two hitch hiker's out in BFE in AZ. saying mmaannn i wish we had a car. but the boater's wouldn't car and the hiker's wouldn't have much use for a boat would they? that's why this topic is 5 friggin page's long you duner's want FAST handleing not so much an issue us east coster's we do wood's and track's we could care less if our ride's do 110mph and put out 90hp in fact we would sell a quad like that we need great handleing&low/mid range power a quad that we can keep complete control of at all time's im not saying the 250r isn't a dune quad or a banshee with the right setup won't work in the wood's but they were each made with a type of rideing in mind .....so what's on the menu kid's dirt or sand

I guess I could throw my .02 in on the TOPIC.. I don't care to get in on the argument.
My experience with the R is some what limited, since I have put about an hour and half of riding time on my R, since I have had it.(8 months). My Banshee is modded for MX(widened, softened, faster), and the R doesn't come close in the dollar amounts. My R has flipped front wheels, LSR +4 axle, Ohlins shocks, and the regular MX stuff, but I'm still faster on the R. When I went to the MX track, I had MAYBE 30 mintues of riding time on it, and probably half of that I spent on our practice track. I had a feel of the machine, but was still learning. A friend of mine that rides a CR was taking my lap times, and he said that I was about 3 seconds faster on the 250R(4th ride) than I ever have been on my Banshee. I have been riding the Banshee for 3 years now. In handling characteristics, the R is much more forgiving than the Banshee. I have a blast on either, and I'm sure you would love either.
For your information, I am now selling the Banshee. I guess that says which one I enjoy more.

This all started when some people were saying that a 250 would KILL a banshee in dragrace, if similarly equiped. I would rather dune, where both machines are quite capable, but its inevitable to do some drag racing, regardless of the terrain. I have been at Glamis since Thursday night and I told you guys that when at Oldmobile or Comp hill, I would count the 250 R's that I raced and post my results, Win or lose. So whats the tally? 9 Different 250'r. (6 quads, 3 ATC's) Out of the nine I raced, with multiple runs usually, I lost to 1 very trick ATC. Meaning I beat the other 8. I know that 2 of the quads were 330 kits. I dont investigate the internet trying to figure outwhat is faster, I ride and find out what is faster and regardless of what anybody says, your not going to change my mind, a piped banshee is too much for a piped 250R, when dragracing. Now you may be thinking, Hmmmm only 9 250'rs were at Glamis all weekend? sounds fishy. Well I could only get 9 of them too race.generally they just raced other 250's. I got my **** handed too me by that one ATC, as did many other banshees. Im not afraid to lose, In fact I just like to have fun and bench race as much as anyone, but when people start making asinine comments, like stock ATC's beating piped banshees and quadzillas, Im going to call you on it. Anyhow, I hope ther is no hard feelings, its just the Net and all. Happy riding..

Thanks for the report, Roostking.
Mintychip, man you are bitter!!! Why can't you just say "yep, a Banshee will beat a similarly modded 250R in a drag race". It's no big deal.
Oh by the way, about Barbarossa returning to save the Teutons. Actually, Barbarossa didn't so much "return" to save the Teutons as he did to organize the Knights of the Teutonic Order to help defeat what was then Holy Rome (now part of Germany). Barbarossa, drowned when he tried to cross a river on his horse while fully clad in metal armor...
Maybe you can try to think of a historically accurate (or at least relative) analogy next time you are trying to be demeaning towards a fellow ATVer.

Its all good MintyChip. I know you scour the net and have all sorts of book knowledge of what should be beating what, but I live in the real world, and my real world testing shows that a piped banshee will beat piped 250's, and then some. So hey, no hard feelings, but to let you know, i put a whoopin on a few DS 650's just for you... I did get crushed by a Trinity Raptor, I wonder if that was King Raptor, that thing was fast...
So, How did the gig at the VFW go?
Whats going on WyoDuner, bout time to be hitting Walden!!

Bummer for you Mintychip! Sounds like you need to start hitting the history books more and less playing music at the bar mitzvah's! Sweet history lesson Wyodunner My only regret is the fact that Minty's late night posts/ramblings from his graveyard shift at the local 7-11 or gas n go or wherever the hell he posts from in the middle of the night makes it impossible to read until the following morning, kind of like waiting for the zippy comic, you know what ever he says it'll be funny. Seriously Minty I want to extend a offer to you to camp with me and "Roost" over Easter. I kind of enjoy your wit and humor and think it would make good campfire banter. Think about it. FYI Gilbert is SE of Phoenix about 20 miles. Now tell me what the praytell is a " Mintychip" ? Is that one of those pink blocks you aim at when you ….uh never mind.

I'm still trying to pick it up, but I'm 90% sure "mintychip" is navajo code language for "trx 90 rider", I'm having trouble figuring if it's trx or lt.. ahhhh.. forget that, I finally figured it out, it stands for "polaris 90 rdr4-eva"! HA!

Wyoduner, when you call it Holy Rome, you imply that it was part of Rome, when in fact it was a misnomer, the Holy Roman Empire, under the hapsburg dynasty, controlled later by Charles I, or Charles V of Spain, which wasn't really holy, never roman (except in the catholic sense) and was a pathetic excuse for an empire. Now early Euro history isn't my field, if you want to discuss WWII, (after all I do love that VFW), we can go round for round. I'm sure you know that barbarossa was the red bearded prussian warrior, also the name of Hitler's ill faited offensive against Russia.
Thanks for the lesson.
