bypass the brake/shift thing
#2
I'm assuming you have a Kodiak. I got this off of a post a few months ago, it's simple and it works great.
On the right front side there is a black cover on the lower part of the fender. They recomended to remove the tire but I did mine with the tire on. Remove the cover. You will see two springs. The larger spring is the return spring. The smaller spring is the one you will need to work with. This spring is attached to the cable that runs to the shifter box. Work the foot brake and notice how it works. This cable must be pulled, like when you press the foot brake, to shift. Take needle nose pliers and unhook the spring. Take a plastic wire tie and run it through the hole that is in the motor mounting bracket. It's the only hole there. Connect the spring to the wire tie and pull it tight. This will keep tension on the cable so you can shift without using the brake. That's it! Remember to put the cover back on. If you ever want to go bake to the brake release thing, just cut the wire tie and hook the spring bake to the lever.
Good Luck!!

I'm not sure if the 2002 has the same bypass loop on it that the older grizz's do but i think it does. My friend has one but i haven't looked at this part of it. There should be a bypass loop that you can pull to get into reverse if you are centered on a rock or stump. It should be down by the brake pedal. Go to the hardware store and get the smallest cable clamp that you can find or use a split bolt that is used to connect electrical wires together. pull the bypass loop out or press the brake pedal and put the clamp on the cable to keep it from going back in. that should solve the problem If it has the pull loop.
