Tires for the Wolverine
#15
The 10" wide 489's do not turn any harder than the stock tires. With the stock tires, I was always bending my wheels. With 10" up front my wheels are much more protected and I like the way it looks too.
I think the 23's are the only way to go on the Wolverine. Good power, Great handling.
I do sometimes need another gear, that is just the nature of this wheeler. Even when I ran 25's I wanted more. Now at least I can get to top speed much faster.

If you're finding your Wolverine underpowered with 25" tires, drop in a Wiseco high copression piston. It's cheap, easy to do, and really improves the bottome end power.
The are handeling disadvantages with 25" tires, but you can get around that by using offset rims, or wheel spacers.
For straight up trail riding the 23's are still a good choice, but if you want top speed, if you ride in muddy or rocky terrian, or if you liek climbing big sand hills, the 25's are the way to go.

I had Titan 489 XT's on my Wolverine. They worked great but really rode hard and made the steering pull all over if I hit any unexpected rocks and stuff like that. I just switched to Maxxis 25" AlTracs and now it rides way better. It is alot more forgiving if I hit anything unexpected and don't pull the front all over. The loss of power is not because of size as it is because or more traction. My new AlTracs are actually lighter than my Titan's are. I will keep my 23" XT's for spares but the AlTracs are just better overall for the Wolverine.
