OK. I know his isnt a 4-wheeler question, but my bike, a Yamaha XT600 had a piece break out of the case, can it be welded back in or do I have to get a new case. The case is made out of some form of magneisium alloy. If I do end up buying a new case, do I have to buy both halves or can I just get the one I need??? Please someone help, I need to go ride.

That part is similar to the part that breaks on most of anything, which is usuaully the "peg" that the gear shift detent spring rides on. It's a similar problem and has a sililar fix.

If the pressure applied to this piece isn't of extreme pressure and if there is room around it to weld, it CAN be welded, but by only someone who has experience in welding with this material. Take your case to a few local reputable welding shops and get it welded. It would be great if you could find a welder who has a little knowledge of how the parts operate as well.
