ok, here is the deal....

I just picked the bike up today after having them put the winch on. Anywho, they mounted the remote plug-in in the indention of the shifter (infront of it). The problem is that with the remote pluged in, the dang thing cant be shifted into LOW. Doesnt sound like that big of a deal if you winch your bike out in Nuetral, BUT i plow....and i am wondering what the heck they are going to do about it. I will take it in in the morning and find out. I am afraid that they will move it, but what about the darn hole that is in the plastic where it is now!

I think that they should replace the plastic and not just a plug or something..... i guess i should have thought about where i wanted it mounted but they didnt ask and i thought that they were experienced enough to know not to put it there. Infact, i didnt realize it was a problem till i got home and put the plow on to clean up the driveway (i kinda wrecked the drive doing d "O" nuts in the snow..hehe).

Is it that big of a deal to plow in high?

I plow in high and in 2WD. I have had to use 4WD in low range a couple of times thou.

 

i only plow in low. the belt will last alot longer if it is left in low while your going 30 mph or less. i would think leaving it in high would prematurly wear out the belt!
as for the hole in the plastic. if they did it, then they WOULD replace the plastic, or give me one hell of a deduction on the quad, like installing the wench for free or a free 20 hour tuneup including the lifters! THEY defaced YOUR property, and so THEY should compincate you or replace it. good luck, and try to keep it on all 4!

Well i spoke to the dealer today and will be bringing it in tomarrow. The weather here turned crappy fast. It was snowing again this morning and is now a drizzle. The snow is still over 20" deep and now the snowmobile tracks are to soft to go on as well. If it clears up tomarrow, i will ride the bike down there. If not, i will have to go and get my trailer licensed and haul it. YUCK!!! i hate even putting it on a trailer just to go 2 miles. hehe

Well, i will see what they are going to do. From the way it sounds....they plan to fix it. I dont know if that means new plastic (since there isnt even a boot mark yet) or maybe something else, like free merchandise (lower the price on upgrading my tires [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img] ). They seem to be really good dealers/owners. This will be the first test of what they say and what they do.

BTW: I have seen several people put the hook of their winch up on the front rack???? is this just so it is easier to get to in a mud hole? Has anyone ever had a problem with accidently bending the rack by tightening the winch to tight? LOL, i hope not. As of right now, i am keeping the hook on the rack (bad back, and seems to be easier to reach there). I am trying not to make it to tight [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

Frogman I looked at that switch and could not fogure out where to put it so it would not be in the way. I bought the rocker switch from warn and put it on the bars, much easier. And if your going to plow, a must that remote switch would be worthless to plow with. You can see mine this weekend. The dealer will probably just put a new warning decal over the hole. As for plowing, I always plow in high range. Up here you need the speed not the power. We don't even plow until it snows a foot.

 

Frogman28, bending the rack with the winch is a real possibility if you hit the switch the wrong way or if someone (kids) play with it. I stretched a rubber tie-down strap across the rack and hook onto that. That way it is easy to keep it tight without danger of harming anything.

I do the same thing as YukonRon. That way you won't hurt your rack and if the cable ever catches on anything during a ride the cord will break without causing any damage.

As for the location of the plug in....you're dealer is REALLY STUPID!!!

And for everyone who plows...ALWAYS use low gear. It'll save your belts and transmissions from damage. High might work fine now...but down the road it's going to cost you $$$$$$$$$$$!!!

As far as what the dealer does to fix it....well you guys will hear about it tomarrow. I was looking for a place to put it too. The only place that i can figure, is right under the ignition switch. If they think they are going to get away with just putting a warning lable over it, well they are wrong! It will be fixed, or at least i will be compensated for the hole. lol
