I'm taking my Raptor to the Cinder's in Flagstaff for the first time next month. My mods are: Uni Filter, no airbox lid, Pro Circuit slip on, 170/175 mains, needle's moved up one notch, and 27.5 pilot's. Anybody got any recommendations for around 7000 feet elevation? Any help would be appreciated. Thank's in advance.

Try 145/150, stock pilots, stock needle settings. Air screws at 2 turns out. Go to b l ue tr axx . c o m and look for Vraptor advice. I run K&N, full Big Gun, 150/155 w/ no snorke, ten holes in lid, clip in #4 spot, stock pilots and 1&5/8 and 2.25 out on the air screws. This is at 5000ft, Perfect!!!!!!

I am running a completly different setup, pro-design pro-flow with k&n no airbox lid, full exhaust, i often rejet based on where i will be riding but it is usually over 7000', I am using a dynojet kit and using the 146/148 (needle on the 4th notch and air/fuel at 2 and 3/4 out, and 25 pilots) which actually runs a bit rich but since i am riding in baja-like conditions (hot dry desert at altitude), and not racing i am willing to run a bit more fuel (rich) to keep my motor cool, if you were using dynojet 144/146 would give you a bit more power without running lean. not sure how those jet sizes actually compare to mikuni jets, you will definatly have to drop down on those mains and your pilots, if you have the time to do some testing grab a handful of jets and watch for top end cutout and drop a size this will still be a bit rich and you could drop 2 sizes easily without going lean. good luck and let me know if I can help

Thank's for the reply's. I was actually thinking around the same lines as what SANDGOd proposed, but using more like a 150/155 main combo. I'd rather have it a little rich than a little lean.

Hey raptor I just finished 2 weekends of bench testing at the cinders and this what I've done :

I went down 3 steps on my mikuni from 175/170 to 160/155 and went up 1 notch on the needles. I'm planning on camping on fire road 776 3/4 mile south of paved road (north entrance). Look for f350 w 30' weekend warrior and we can do some riding. I was too chicken to do $100 hill but the damn 15 yr olds ds has done it 3 times !! A little OT but the DS is running like a raped ape if you will and doesnt sputter or cough. The higher elevation does sap about 20% HP so get ready to get your ego bruised

YOU are the man! That's exactly what I wanted to hear. Sound's like we are on the same page tuning wise. Which needle setting are you using? Are you saying that you moved the needle up one notch from the stock setting or moved the needle from what position you normally run? My buddies and I are going from May 31-June 2. Hope to see you there. Thank's for the info on the hill. I was curious upon whether or not a Raptor could do it. I've only seen severely modded 2 strokes make it.

<< Which needle setting are you using? >>

Im using titanium needles that came from CT with my pipe. I was told by CT the jets, needles while a CT design are closer to mikuni,no way close to dynojets.

Yes, one clip up from stock position so instead of 4 from the top,it is now at 3. If you still are not sure PM me , I'll give you my # and we can BS.

Actually it was my DS that climed $100 hill 3 times.I'm sure my raptor can climb $100 hill, especially since the 12 tooth was added. Its that I just dont have the heuveos to try it yet But other than that the cinders on a raptor is the $hit !
