I've got a 99 F350 XLT 4x4 supercab with the V10 and 71000 miles. NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER! I will advise, stick with the stock tire size! I went up a couple inches and lost 2+mpg !! I used to get 14.5 mpg on the hiway now I average around 11-12 per gallon everywhere. This rig has enough stones to pull any reasonable trailer I want to pull and is 100% reliable. I used to be a GM man but switched after purchasing my 92 F150 4x4 which had 148000 miles only needing a heater core and wheel bearings/brakes. Ford builds a solid truck as do all the other mfrs. Drive what you like, I'll drive my Super Duty. My next rig will probably also be an F350 Ford has earned a loyal customer here!

It's funny. The article says skip the two-tone paint and the shift on the fly, but go for the reverse vehicle aid sensor. I did just that. I got manual locking hubs and a floor shift for the 4x4 instead of the push
button "is it working?". For heavy towing they do like the diesels better, and the 8.1 liter Chevy is faster. That's okay. The V-10 is really smooth, has plenty of power for my purposes. And won't leave its' transmission lying all over the road in a pile of broken twisted burned up little pieces....

fourlix, I actually had my last truck (1/2 ton Ch**y) "lemon-lawed" because of the poor tranny, steering shaft, etc. Switched over to the Ford for the same reason!

my old college roomy has a 2001 superduty 4x4 turbo diesel w/ 6 speed. His dad has a new chebby with the new turbo diesel and that allison tranny. He says his ford has more pulling power but the chebby has more get up and go, as in speed I suppose, power. He said the chebby don't pull worth a chit, compared to his ferd.

once again, comments from an owner of both.

I like my little Dodge Dakota... 235+ HP in a 3800lb truck It is rough as hell pulling my 13' trailer, but even with my trailer and 605lb grizz, I can still out accelerate alot of vehicles

Only one manufacture builds a truck, Ford, the rest just make pick-ups. The Ford truck is the best selling vehicle in the world, the rest are just 1st and 2nd loosers. The facts.

Best mod, Goodyear Mud Runners.

Have a great day, and if you don't want to be a wanna-be, buy a Ford.

I'm a dodge fan but hey fords are nice trucks. I sure wouldn't mind owning one. I'm more of a diesel guy tho. Nothing like a cummins i-6 rumbling down the road. I can't wait until the new Cummins with the common rail injection motor that will supposedly have 310 horsepower. Watch out Chevy your not going to be the truck with the most power for long. Congrats on your new truck.
