Warrior Problems
#1
My 97 warrior has been in the shop for about two weeks because it won't start and it only has about 90psi compression(Normal?). They just gave it back to me because they can not find the problem. They checked the engine and carbarater and said that they were in great condition. They could not explian the compression. They think it is an electrical problem (cdi unit to be exact), but they don't have the equipment to test it. When you try to start it every thing seems normal, it even fires every once in a while, but it just won't start even if you use starting fluid. Does It sound like the cdi unit is out, or does it have to do with the compressin?

The shop thinks 90 psi isn't the problem ?????? RUN,DON'T WALK from those morons. A healthy stock 4 stroke should have at least 120 -135 psi, sounds like you scored the cylinder wall, have bad rings,or the valve seats are damaged. Maybe an old trick us old car mechanics used will help. squirt a little oil in the sparkplug hole and take a compression reading,if it goes up,bad rings,if it stays the same, either a hole in the piston,or the valves are shot. Either way, sounds like the top end will need to come off to verify the valve or piston.Hope this helps you out.

90 psi is way to low, i would pull the cylinder head off and do a good inspection of the cylinder, piston and rings and valves. if this is something that you don't feel that you can do then take it to another shop. but whatever you do don't go back to the last shop that you went to.
