I was wondering how all of you clean out your skid plates after a muddy ride. I went out yesterday and found about 100 pounds of mud and swamp beard trapped in all of my skidplates. Does anyone have any tricks? I find it irritating to take all of my skidplate off after every mud ride.

Does anyone tip the Grizz up vertically and hose off the skids?

I take them off.
It's a pain but I could never get all the crap out just hoseing it out even at a car wash & a Raptor probably has less places for the mud & crud to hide than a Grizz. This also lets you clean all the places you can't normally see. It's a pain but it's the best way.

Phil~

I jack the grizz up and take the wheels off & side plastics. I can then get everywhere I need to with my pressure washer, and it also get's the grizz up higher so that it's easy to scotchbright the aluminum plates.

I suppose it would be just as quick to take the skid plates off, 6 of one and a half dozen of another.

Go to Walmart. Buy the biggest spray can of WD40. Take it home and spray your inner fenders along with your skid plates. Do this before you go riding in the mud or any moist soil. Next time you wash it the mud should slide off real easy as long as you dont let it harden to he**.

If the wd40 sits on the plastic fender's or where eer you prefere to spray on, will it eat away at the plastic? Thanks

Nah, It will leave a white film if you let it sit for weeks. But I wash my bike after every ride and it is fine!
