I was warming my 2002 Raptor up to change the oil when I noticed the Reverse light was flashing. It was only running about three to four minutes. At first glance I thought it was the temp light but it was the red reverse light. I looked through the owner's manual and found nothing. Anyone know what it is for. I did turn off the motor then started it right back up and it went away.

knowsalot posted on this earlier sometime, i remember running accross it. if im not mistaken its something with the speed sensor, if it senses no movement but the bike is running and not moving (warming up) in N then it blinks the light, same on new Grizz's

Its a loose/dirty wire connection down by the gear shifter shaft(left side). The wire with the push on connection (not the philips headed screw wire). Clean it up with solvent and crimp it a bit. There is no danger of damage to the engine.

I just bought a new 2002 raptor and when i started it up after changing the oil the reverse light also started flashing at me. I didnt know if that was bad so i turned it off and looked through the book and counldn't find anything. So then i restarted it and it was find. So i doubt in that anything is wrong with yours it must just do that far some reason after changing the oil like it is telling you the oil presure is low untill it build pressure or something.

Do a search for the knowsalot response to this question. It had somthing to do with over reving the motor while in neutral.
