I pulled my plug tonight. Based on Harry's words, I think my jetting is near perfect at 148 and 150 with the clip in the 4th position. The strap changes from a tan to brown about midway close to the bend in the strap. The ring around the base is brown all the way around and the center electrode is mostly tan with a light spot. I haven't ran it very much. A check after a long ride may reveal more. I ordered the 155 jet so I could have the option to go up if necessary. Dynojet recommends raising the clip to the 2 or 3 position because they say the bikes they have tested seem to run fat on the bottom end with the lid off due to decreased air velocity. Has anyone tried this?

Well, I called Dynojet and they told me that they found no reason to run with the lid off, not sure who I talked to but he told me they found that the specs they send with the kit work best, so I put the lid back on and put the 146 and 148 mains back in. rode it for a few, but not enough to tell if it is any better or not, I will put a new plug in soon and ride and they tell you my findings here again, I still think that I had more on top with no lid?!!? But I don't know yet.....

Raptorrider,

on my bike anyway. There is a very noticable increase in power with no lid. Did you read earlier in this post about how to read plugs? Its very informative and may help you with your jetting.

yep, I read it, saw it on Trinity's site already. I guess I will call them again and oder some more jets and just keep tring, I know there is power to be had with no lid, at least for now with the lid it is not running lean, so I am alright for now....

I have just an R4 slip on and I have the airbox cover all drilled out and K&N filter. I went with the 148, 150 jets. I tried the lower ones but it seamed to flatten out on top. I did a high speed run with GPS and with the choke on a bit and got a better speed so then I went all the way up to the dyno-jet 148 and 150 and it seems to pull hard all the way to the top now. So with a full pipe and no lid I would definately go with the 148 and 150. Better a little fat then lean.

The guy form dynojet told me the same thing..

You know what i say:

Throw the stock airbox out!!! Its garbage!!!

You can thank me later..the stock airbox is totally restrictive..its not just the lid its the whole shape of it...
