New TRINITY 686!!!!!
#1
I got my motor parts back from TRINITY (trick work!) and I had no problems installing everything. It was a 2 person job to slide the cylinder over the piston (used a hose clamp for the rings and 2 pieces of wood under the piston to keep it from going down into the case) The cam gear took a helping hand as well. After a few hours of work the 686 started on the first shot with 180/185 mains with needle in 4th slot. I did the cam break-in and will do the rest of the break-in this weekend! Thanks Harry, Raptor720, and the other atvconnection members here who helped me with my 686 questions. It is going to be torture putting around during break-in!!! I will let you all know my final setup and results.

Blue leader.
I have a lot of experience tearing down 2 stroke engines heads and cylinders and putting them back together. My question is. How much harder is it to do a 4 stroke? Can a halfway knowledgeable backyard mechanic, with the help of the Yamaha service manual, tear down and reinstall the Raptor as you did for this kit? TIA

The difference between 2 stroke and 4 as far as rebuilds is the head and setting the cam timing. Everything else is the same. I have rebuilt sleds and a 16-valve 4-cylinder bike engine. I didn't really find it that much harder. If you follow the shop manual and take your time, it should be no big deal. So go for it

TRINITY had my parts for 3-4 weeks.
My quality Armstrong torque wrenches where helpful.
2 sets of hands for the cam sprocket makes things easy.
King, I won't be the fastest in the group for too long. People are pissed (jealous) and are setting aside the time to tear-down, mail to Harry, and install 686's on their Raptors!!!!!!
Now I get to fumble with jetting all over again
