I have to agree, I dont think you will find anything in that price range that actually is capable of running. You might find a 50, or 90cc or maybe a breeze.
I would suggest you save your money and wait awhile until you can buy something that will run and not be a basket case. I think you could pick up a used blaster under $2000. Oh, you might watch ebay, sometimes you can find a good deal.

Sure you can get a quad for that price range.
Come on guys, look at his first post, he isn't picky. It's not like he is saying "I want the best quad in the world, but I've only got a grand". He said that he would take ANYTHING.
You could look for a Yamaha Blaster...they are good quads, but for one it that price range it will probably be beat to crap(actually I owned a blaster a long time ago, and it was only 2 years old when I bought it for $1600...mint).
Personally a good quad I have seen in that price range would be one of the old late 80's Honda Fourtrax 250's. They are a 250 2 wheel shaft drien atv. The won't break any land speed records, but they are a good reliable machine that can handle most trail situations without any problems. I have seen many decent ones near the $1000 price mark.
You can look at it two ways....the good thing is if you buy a junker you aren't out a lot of money. The bad thing is that more than likely if you are aren't looking to spend much more than that, you don't have a whole lot of money to spend on a second quad after the first one blows up.
The other way is the "smart way" and that would be to be patient. Good deals are out there and you will eventually get one. Just cause you aren't spending a whole lot doesn't mean you can't be picky. Just don't expect to find a deal right away. I know a guy that picked up a Mint Fourtrax like I mentioned above for $850, and this was about 8 or 9 years ago at least, so it wasn't really all that old.
Keep an eye out, talk to people (spreading the word never hurts), tell your friends, and your friends of friends....anybody you can think of. Heck, you could even run a want add in the paper.
Good luck.
