grizz wanted to rev itself to death!

weirdest thing..went for the first real ride on the grizz this weekend. Bike performed great! ~90* out, high humidity.. lots of back woods riding... no vapor lock.
Get home after about 2 1/2 hrs of riding, park the bike. My bud wants to ride it, so he hops on, cranks, and VRRRROOOOOOMMMMM... reved to like 3/4 throttle! he promptly turned it off. Started it again, it was still revving pretty high, but not as high.
I washed the bike off, let is sit for maybe an hour, and it was fine afterwards. The bike has about 7hrs on it now. What could cause it? dirt on the carb, maybe on the throttle cable? the chock was working fine. Darndest thing

Is the bike still doing this?
If anything, is sounds like the throttle is sticking. Might want to lube it and see if there is any change. You cannot always count on a properly lubed bike when you get it.....speaking from experience..lol
The only other thing that i can think of is, if you left the gas switch in the ON position, gas could have gravity fed into the head. I have seen this on alot of different motorcycles. If you dont shut the gas to OFF, then it will high rev until the excess gas is burnt off. JMO

it happened right after a long ride. Lots of mud on the bike. I stop, kill it, jump off and me and my bud swap bikes.. it does it to him. My wife was standing right there, and said he never hit the throttle. I am sure the eng was still hot/warm. It hasn't done it since, but it was the first long ride we have been on
how would I lube the cable?
