You maybe right! There could be something up with my buddies Raptor. The only other one I rode was piped and jetted, and man, what a diff. compared to the stocker. Have to look into my buddies Rappy and see what I can find.

If he hasn't adjusted his valves yet, have him do it! It makes a big difference in power when the valves get out of spec. How long has he had it? How long has it been since he adjusted his valves? It makes a big difference if they have not been done for a while and are not running with the proper clearances. The website ATVTESTING.com has a good write up of this. I adjusted mine right after I got my Raptor (I got it used) and it really woke it up. A 400 probably could hang much better with a Raptor with misadjusted valves! Take care.

Good info. Slappie. Thanks! He has had it for a few months now. Prob. 15-20 maybe 30 hours on it. I'll have him check the valves 1st thing.

 

A buddy of mine has a Piped and jetted Raptor and 400ex and the Honda is nowhere near as exciting to ride as the Raptor. Low power compared to the Raptor. Just my observation.

Here we go again! Where do these questions come from? Let me guess. Honda owners. Or friends of them. And then when the truth comes out, RELIABILITY is what they scream. The only thing I see breaking down here is POLARIS. I own a Honda and have owned other Hondas, but if another bike is better, I buy it. As long as it is engineered or built in JAPAN! All japanese bikes are good. Just get the one that suits your needs at the moment. Who is going to keep the thing more than 4 or 5 years anyway? They will have something bigger & better by then.

 

Oh Jesus, here we go again. I have raced about........50 400 Ex's. Out of the Hole, through the Mid and on the Top beat every one of them. I know this thread will get alot of attention. I know, everything beats the Raptor
it's slow. Everybody has got a friend with a Z400, 400ex, 250r, Ds650, Tecate, Moped, 10 speed, Ugly Nun on a SkateBoard, and a Guy that resembles Richard Simmons on Crack with a Pair of RollerSkates that has spanked a Raptor. I hope the Z400 hurrys up and gets ATV of the Year so the Raptor can rest from all the *** beatins it gets.:[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

 

you know the 400EX beats a raptor on low-mid like a pacer beats a trans am (WS-6 of course) down a drag strip

 

Zombie- I have only raced 1 400ex. They will not even line up to race us. The only line up on the edge of the strip. lol
