I would think that it would depend on how hot the weather is where you are. I run the higher viscoscity in the summer and a lower one in the winter. I feel more comfortable about the extra protection in the summer heat.

I just bought some form the dealer a couple hours ago. They recommended the 20/40 for the hot summer and back to the 10/30 in the colder months. It only makes sense to me. The chart in the owners manual suggests the same.
