I geared my Z400 down for the exact same reason and I love it. No more trail running in 1st gear. Now I can use 2nd and 3rd all day. Plus you can use 2nd when cornering to slide the back around with just a little gas. I don't really like the those Dunlops either but I haven't decided on what to replace them with yet.

Are you running the 12 in the front as well, or just the 42 in the rear? I figured I'd change the front to a 12 first and see how that is .It should be easier to change than the rear. Are there pros/cons to only changing the front as opposed to only the rear??

Hot Shoe.....I agree on the rear XC Bandits.....they are awesome on the Raptor. I can shift my weight and the rear goes where I want it.....and flat HOOK UP when I want them too. I have the 22" fronts too......wish they worked as good as the back

ewww, bandit fronts just plain suck.. I had em on my warrior, originally got them cause they look cool. They get caught up on every damn thing and jerk the bars around cause they are flat profile. I still run them on the warrior but I put like 15psi in em to get em round somewhat.

yes i am runnig 12front42in the rear.if you try 12 up front first it might not be a nuff low end 4 you.I know went i am in the trails i can slam 2nd and 3rd gear all day in the trails.I know went i was running stock tire i love the stock gearing 13/40.But went i got the 22"xct Hole shots it changed so when i went to 12/42 now it seems like it runs just like stock gearing and i am happy with.

I've also read to just do 43 at the rear. Thus eliminating wear on the front?? Any ideas?
