Default ALL 2001 RAPTOR OWNERS

Okay guys, just a thought from a non-raptor owner...

Aren't these the same "safety" folks that took our high performance machines away from us back in the late 80's/early 90's???

Be careful what you wish for!

It's great if you can get some heat put under Yamaha's butt... but I'll bet the intentions of these folks run deeper than mere justice to a manufacturer.
If these can hurt you... and a bunch of people complain and raise lawsuits... They will fight to stop the manufactuerer from producing them.

It's been done before, and it can happen again...

Just a thought

I"m on board and just regestered my complaint with the NTSB and will speek with Mark Ross tommorow...KNOWSALOT says its a good idea even....I hate my raptor and will NEVER buy another Yamaha product(that includes music instruments and anything else with that lame name...worst customer service known to man.

I just bought an '01 Raptor, #1330 for $3500. But, the tranny went out 07/01 and the previous owner had paperwork from the dealer proving that it was repaired with the '02 gears, etc. Otherwise I wouldn't even have touched it. I don't think the recall would apply to me unless it broke again. Which it shouldn't because it has the '02 gears.

The part numbers match up to the ones on Raptortanny.com, but the repair was done in 07/18/01-08/27/01. I wonder how they had those gears ready then. Were the '02 Raptors for sale already?

This is slightly off topic, but there was a recall on Yamaha Warriors last month. Here is the link. http://www.cpsc.gov/CPSCPUB/PREREL/prhtml02/02210.html

So, there is hope.

Yamaha isn't the only manufacturer with recalls. In fact, they have the least.

I feel that the demand for the 660 Raptor is high. I don't think the manufacturer would lower the cc's or drop the Raptor from their line. That would cost them too much money. I think the lawsuit would just make Yamaha think before releasing a new high-performance sport quad into the market without first testing and testing and testing over again looking for the weak points. This lawsuit wouldn't affect me because I own an '02 Rappy and have had no problems with it. If they thought there wasn't any problems with the '01, then they would have put the same tranny in the next year. I support all who are going after this lawsuit and I wish you the best of luck!!!
