ONLY OWNERS THAT HAVE ALREADY HAD THEIR TRANNIES FAIL:

OKAY FOLKS, HERE WE GO!!

EVERYONE THAT HAS EVER HAD AN '01 RAPTOR TRANNY FAILURE CALL THIS NUMBER (301-504-0580 ext.1188) AND SPEAK WITH MARK ROSS (CPSC)!!

IT SOUNDS LIKE THEY ARE GETTING PRETTY CLOSE TO MAKING HEADWAY. BUT HE NEEDS TO HEAR FROM EVERYBODY ON THIS ISSUE. PLEASE FLOOD HIM WITH YOUR CALLS!!!!!

THANK YOU!

(edit) IF YOU HAVE NOT YET REGISTERED A CLAIM WITH THE CPSC, THEN P-L-E-A-S-E DO SO NOW, THIS SHOULD BE DONE FIRST!!!! THEY SAY THAT THEY REALLY DON'T HAVE ALOT OF CLAIMS FOR IT YET, BUT THEY ARE IN THE PROCESS OF INVESTIGATING THE ISSUE.

I just talked to Mark Ross and there is an investigation going on. Everybody that has had a failure needs to call and go to the CPSC web site and fill out a report if they can. I filled out the report and recieveda confirmation from them dated June 4th.

RYAN, the main thing is your VIN#, how and when it happened! Don't get angry with them or anything, just tell them you were casually riding, and it locked up (or just went out - however it happened to you, mine locked up completely and i went over the bars).

Make sure you stress that this is a SAFETY ISSUE!!!!!!

EVERYONE GET ON THE HORN AND FILE YOUR CLAIM - PLEASE.

What about those of us that have not had a tranny failure? How do we fit in? Is this a step towards a recall of the 2001 Raptors for the tranny? TIA

At this point, if you have not had a failure, I believe that you have to wait it out. I don't know if there is anything that you can do?! You have to file a formal claim with them if you have had the failure.

And yes, this is the process of initiating a recall for the Raptor tranny failures. If they do a recall - it will be for ALL 2001 Raptor owners!! Not just the ones that have failed.

Maybe we will win this battle yet!!!

I sure hope the f#$k that this does happen. I decided on the way home from work today that the 2001 was getting stripped and sold cause for what I could get for it and the cost of a new tranny I would be pretty close to a new 2003. I plan on getting a 686 kit and I know it would be a smart move to change the tranny before this takes place. KEEP US INFORMED.
