Have you of you had problems with the intake boots blowing off your carbs? I've never had this problem before but I took my Rap to the shop to have a new clutch put in and when I picked it up it's doing it now. When I go to start it, it backfires and it blows the boot off. Just wondering if any of you have had this prob.

Never had the problem myself, but I was warned not to set the idle too low when I purchased my Raptor (from the dealer). They said it might backfire and blow the carb off the boot.

I have the same problem. I even took the little metal spacers out of the clamp, but that didn,t help.

You MUST idle the machine up - I had the same prob when mine was new. Then I idled it up to 1550 RPM's like my mechanic told me to, and absolutely no probs since. It seemed at first that it was excessively high, but you get used to it!

You will also want to turn the idle mixture slightly rich, the main cause of the backfire/boot blowoff is being too lean on the idle mix, when letting off the throttle, goes way lean, pop goes the carb boot.

Hi,
After my husband and his buddy changed the jets on his buddies 01, he started having the problem also. My husbands 02 does not have the problem, because they changed it for the 02's. I know this does not help, just wanted you to know that other people are having the same probs. Will tell my husbands freind about the suggestions here and see if that helps.
