ATVs Under Attack Again Today....................

Oh yea, I saw that report!!!! Been stewing over it for hours. Damn claptrap! Peter said something about 100,000 injuries last year when ABC's own website states 100,000 in the last 8 yearS! Frankly I don't doubt that their were 100k injuries, but most of them did not wind up in the hospital. Just as most injuries in the several dozen hazardous sports don't get reported or publicized.
Did you notice that the speaker at the 'safety' press conference they showed was a representative of the "natural trails association" or somethinng? I bet the major players behind this BS media push are ANTI land USE and that this whole thing is a backdoor attempt to deny Americans the right to enjoy even more public lands.
I have never minimized the Significant hazards to this sport. It is more than mildly dangerous. I strongly disapprove of children operating machines too large for their abilities. The increase in injuries to children is a result of the boom in popularity of motorsports and, more importantly, lack of parental supervision and poor judgement.
That said, accidents can happen. Deciding whether these are acceptable risks SHould NEVER BE
Taken Away from individuals and parents and given to government.
Where does it stop ?
~That's all i've got to say about that~

i knew something was up when i heard that the cpsc said they were looking into the problem with raptors
whay don`t we just put all the kids in a f@#$ing sealed bubble when they are born and not let them out un till they are 30
yes i think there does need to be restrictions on the age of atv riders but whey don`t they tear into the dirtbike industry i mean hell they manufacture bike with no age limits that even say they are meant to be used for closed circut use only
and where do they get off showing all that old footage of outdated quads i saw videos of a brand new 230 quadsport
i don`t think that anyone should be allowed on a quad untill they can understand the fact that there is a substantial risk involved with the operation of atvs
i think that the cpsc needs to just leave us alone we don`t need them they are pumping up the media with b.s. very rarely will you see these little kids on the big formans like they were showing and most people wear helmates, skid lids what ever you call them if they want to get some real footage of what atv riders are really like they need to go out to our favorite traills and see what fun comes from
sorry just venting a little

He!! some adults shouldn't be allowed to ride quads!! LOL!!
My nephew who is 12 rides a YZ85 & the dealer knew it was for him when he sold it. But the same dealer would refuse to sell him a blaster!!
On his YZ85 he runs circles around me on my Raptor (that kid has more ball$ than brains!!) He never rides with out full riding gear & never rides without an adult around (my brother-in-law & sister think I'm an adult!! I got them fooled)
I keep telling them to get him a quad cause that bike is too dangerous (he get's air that scares the **** out of me).
I think he would be safer on a quad than that bike & I could take him to Sahara with me.
I believe that bikes are more dangerous than quads but that same salesman would have no problem selling him a YZ125 but no blaster!

Its just stupid. Will anyone listen to these laws anyways? Whats the chance of me getting pulled over in the middle of the woods and a cop asks to see my ATV license? never. Plus which im sure some of you have mentioned (dont know didnt actually read everyones posts) what if there is a 14 year old 160 pounds and about 5"7 He can easily handle a Wolverine or a Banshee. Just cause you have a few people getting into accidents with out helmets on tape out of a million riders doesnt mean ****. If the law does get passed no one will listen to it and it would have been just a waste of time and money and no what else pisses me off, (this has nothing at all to do with ATVs) propane tanks....Just cause some stupid idiot people had one bad explosion the people in NYC now dont get to keep there tanks but get them exchanged. Thats so damn annoying :-)

Just another fine example of government legislating your freedom away.
I think these laws are ridiculous as others have stated.
Again, why do they attack atv's. What about dirt bikes? What about skateboards? bicycles? ski's? snowmachines? I think you get my point. I wonder if you came up with a statistic of how many kids get hurt and go to the hosiptal after biking accidents, do you think the news would run a story asking for laws to say kids have to be 16 or whatever in order to ride a bike?
I cant beleive how they try to legislate our freedoms.
All I have to say is know you are voting for and make sure they stand for what you want.

I saw the news as well & its hard to beleive they showed those knuckle headed kids as though they were the norm. Cri...st, I can watch the x-games where a guy attempted a triple flip on roller blades, another guy did flips on his dirt bike, then they tell the story of how the one guy just broke his collar bone a few weeks before just trying the trick. If you recall, there was just some coverage on the Harley motorcycle guys who ride without helmits & how much it costs everyone of us. How about the amount of money spent to prove that ex president Bill Clinton diddled Monica Lewinsky?
Maybe they should ban everything that can hurt us. Ya, that really ****....es me off especially after you just sent in your money for a 2 year registration that is supposed to open new riding areas while we have to ride in illegal areas just to have some fun. Hey, don't sell the damn things if you can't give me a legal/fun place to ride & if some punk *** kid rides without a helmit & breaks his neck, that's his problem, he should not be allowed to sue anybody, except his parents!

Even if these laws are not enforced they are a stepping stone to the next one that will. They start small and get bigger until you can't do anything.
The parents of the kid in the mud kneeling on the seat of that 4x4 should be arrested.
What ever happened to personal responsibility.

Yes, I saw part of it.
We already have parents and helmets and other riding gear, and laws to keep the children safe. Allow for the parents to have the responsibility of raising their children and teaching them what's important. I have rarely if ever seen these types of events other than the collaboration that the news is able to collect and obviously the news and the internet are two places that millions of people can be brainwashed into thinking that there is a problem when it is only a few bad apples.
Wake up people and take a stand and write or/and call these organizations and voice your opinions and show up to oppose any new laws or restictions personally or better yet with your riding buddies and your families.
If someone finds out the organizations that are promoting this trash please post so we can stand up and do what we can to straighten this out and show the many positives that come from riding our ATV's.
Sincerely,
Charlie

Last week they were attacking motorcycles, claiming that deaths have doubled in the last few years, and that 3/4 of motorcycle riders had no insurance. They tried to lead the viewer to believe that this is costing the public billions every year. What they didn't say that deaths have declined overall in states that have repealed mandatory helmet laws. They also talked about how 4 people died at Sturgis this year, and acted like it was the end of the earth. What they didn't say is that out of the 300,000 plus people that went there their were only 4 deaths, and that in any other town that size, it is not unusual to have many more deaths than that in the same time frame. They also didnt state the fact that a person that can afford a $30,000 Harley, (which was what they were showing for the most part)sure as h$!l isnt going without insurance. Be it health, or vehicle. It is the same thing here. I have seen many kids that could ride circles around me, but yet they act like it is going to kill every kid out there if the government doesnt take care of us first. If the government doesnt legislate it you watch, the next thing you know some scumbag lawyers will sue the industry out of existance, and the government attorneys will start charging parents with child abuse if their kid gets hurt. You watch, its coming. Their is only one chance, and that is for every one to vote. Dont vote for the liberals or most of the so-called conservatives. Look to a party like the libertarian's. Now I dont want to tell you what to do, but if something isnt done soon, we will be calling each other comrade, and standing in line for a loaf of bread, while the politicians and special interest groups figure out how to get that last dime out of your pocket and into theirs, while tightening the screws on your freedome even more. Fist it was tobacco, now fast food, next alcohol, and then who knows what is next. These people are not interested in truth, or you and me. All they want is power and control. With a willing press behind them, the only thing that will stop them is for you and me and every one we know to vote. It is the only thing that they pay attention to.
Sorry, had to vent, Ron.

Of course, I do not agree with the under 16 can't ride rule. As we all know, the only reason this has came about is a couple of bad apples......potentially ruins it for everyone. The fault is the parents!
<< The parents of the kid in the mud kneeling on the seat of that 4x4 should be arrested. >>
I agree 100%.
