I have a '98 BB SE ... but I seem to have more trouble getting it into reverse (a bit of a pain having to really "stomp" on that foot brake) than out of reverse.

Maybe try putting it back into forward gear with the tranny in neutral and see if this helps any. Maybe "rocking" back and forward might let it engage a bit easier, as I have noticed that I seem to be doing this a bit more frequently now to get the bike to change down to neutral when stopped.

Check the thread I have on Big Bear rear brakes and see if yours is the same.

Chow for now.

I have a 2000 Big Bear 4X4 and I think I know what you mean. Its kinda hard, but just upshirt and you'll be in good shape. I have to put some muscle into it when I shift out of reverse.
