I had a good labor day weekend. Lots of fishing and hunting. I bought a new duffle bag thing to tie to the rear of my rack. The ones with the back rest and all... It was pretty big so I stuffed my ice chest and all my flyfishing and hunting accessories in it. Riding went well. This evening I was loading my Big Bear and didn't even think about all the weight on the rear rack. I weight about 270 lbs. My dodge ram 2500 sits really high off the ground and I only have 6' ramps. Anyway... I started up the ramps, weight forward as always and as I got to the top the front end came up and over the top of me. Somehow I rode it to the ground and then was able to get on my back and try to roll the quad off me. My hand fell off the right side of the handlebars from all the weight and the brake gouged me right in the eyebrow. I had to get 12 stitches at the hospital and just got home. I was pretty lucky, it could have been worse. None of this would have happened if I would have unloaded the bag on the rack before driving up the ramp. Stupid Me! The cut was all the way to the bone and pretty ugly. Has anyone else ever experienced this or just me? My advise, unload the quad if it is fully loaded BEFORE loading it into your truck. Sorry this was so long, just thought I would share my stupid experience in hopes it would help someone else.

I'm a northwester and i did the same damned thing! lol
only i was backing out, showing off, so i had a cold raptor in reverse gear.
We hit the weight transition point [you know it] and the engin went "DUH".
AS TIME STOPPED, we both considered the problem, and hoped we would get along.
Gravity was able, however, to make a decision.
Sorry Mike, but for the rest or your days you will have permamanenetly imprinted in your brain the image of that gas cap headed for your nose, and that feeeling like someone kicked you in the *** and there's no air in your lungs.......and it lasted FOREVER, didnt it?

Last hunting season I bagged myself a nice buck and loaded him onto the rear rack. Once I got back to my Mazda 4x4, I started up the ramps. Luckily I had two buddied spotting me because as I neared the top of the ramps, I started heading for the launch position. My buddies pushed from behind and the front came down. It was like slow motion. Quite a save but I'll never forget that feeling.
Hope you and your Big Bear make a full recovery.

I have a friend that bought a built Tecate-3 (250cc 2-stoke kawi threewheeler incase you haven't seen one). He had a short bed lifted chevy pickup with a tool box in it. He had my 6.5 foot ramps and was going to ride it up. Well, this is the first time he had ever rode an atv into the back of a truck. He got a good run at it (first mistake) and realized he was going to fast and would hit the tool box. Halfway up the ramp, he let totaly off of the twist throttle. As he reached the top, the bike had slowed and he knew it wouldn't make it. He gave throttle a twist (about halfway around) and the front end came back. The bike came down on him and they slid down the ramp together. Luckily he was just bruised because I couldn't keep from laughing.

Well glad to hear I am not the only one. The quad is fine, the rack got a little scratched, and I was smart enough to take the gun off of the front rack before loading. This bike is a tank! LOL. I only wish I was as tough. I am typing today with one eye because my other eye is swollen shut, so sorry if I make a ton of typos. Does anyone know if it is safer to back up the ramps, or is that worse? If I just park on an incline then it is easy to load, but I guess I should either buy 7' ramps or a trailor.
Raptor8- Yeah we will definately have to go riding sometime. I have been riding mostly way up in the mountains close to the snowline, so I have not seen any Cali guys.
Later everyone, gotto go ice! LOL

ROCKY.....ROCKY.......ROCKY lol
I've seen someone try to back up the ramps and it was pretty scary. I'd never try it myself.
