Here lately when trying to shift gears the quad won't shift, it's like the shifter just hit a brick, it won't go up any further. If I double or triple clutch it then it finally shifts. When shifting down it's like the shifter gets lost, no gear to shift to, just free moving. If I turn the quad off then it moves thru the gears fine, I just changed the oil and tried adjusting the clutch looser and tighter but it was no help. Any ideals? Is this a bad clutch or a transmission problem? Thanks!

When I was aout your age I was walking through the thick woods of Georgia. I came to a clearing, I looked to my left, there was a 7ft high pile of vanilla swirl ice cream. I looked to my right and saw a Green rabbit with no eyes or legs. I looked up and saw Ronald McDonald. Then I left preasure on my feet. I looked down and saw two nomes proforming accrobatics on my shoes. Then I heard the sound of flatulance and looked behind me. The woods I was in had disapread ad before my very eyes stood a bicycle built for two. I emidiatly ran and jumped onto the bicycle, the accrobatic nomes hopped into my pocket, the eyeless limbless green rabbit hopped on the back using his ear, and i put the icecream under my hat. I rode the bicycle all the way home (2.7 meters). When I got home i was exhausted. I collapsed and woke up 19 years later, I found a rabbit skull and ribcage next to me, I reached in my pocket and found two nome corpses, the bicycle had rusted away, I reached for my hat ad found the icecream intact. I ate the icecream and then went in my house, I had been gone so long my mom had grown a beard and my dad had given birth 3 times sine i went away. I asked, why didnt you come out to the porch and find me, they said "this isn't your house" The moral of this story is, never trust acrobatic nomes.

harleyguy69,
The moral of your story is: Leave the crack pipe alone.

2001atv,
It sounds like you ride hard and often? The additional traction from the Holeshots also puts more wear on the clutch. Looks like your clutch is shot. Need to pick up a new one from Barnett and a Clymer manual to walk you through the steps (if you don't already have one). While it's apart check the basket for any ridges or grooves in the fingers, that also makes shifting harder. You can pay a shop to do it but with a Clymer manual it's pretty easy. The cheapest place I've found for the manual is www.motorcyclebooks.com They get $21.95 for it plus $3.50 S&H.

I have the Clymer manual but I don’t have the spanner tool required to remove the clutch. I would also like to be sure that it is the clutch before I replace anything. Thanks for the help! Anyone else have an opinion?

And even if the clutch is fgone u should still be able to shift without it i would rule the clutch out, ide check the shifter linkage. post back with any updates.
