BANSHEE COOLHEAD

WHAT IS THE BRAND OF COOLHEAD I SHOULD BUY AND WHAT SIZE DOMES SHOULD I USE? THE ONLY THING DONE TO THE BIKE IS THE TOOMEY T5 PIPES AND NEW HANDLE BARS. SO WHAT KIND SHOULD I LOOK AT GETTING AND WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO CHANGE TO PUT IT ON? I AM STILL LEARNING ABOUT THE BIKE. THANKS TO ANYONE WHO CAN HELP ME.

The only brand of Cool Heads I have seen is the PRO DESIGN brand. The Rocky Mountain Catalog (1-800-336-5437) I have, has them for the Banshee for $255.99 (22cc Domes) with the extra domes for $62.99 for the18cc~21cc domes. The catalog has a Banshee Compression guide

The smaller the dome size the higher octane gas you need to use and you could need to have your crank welded.
I would like to get some cool heads too, anyone out there know if you have to take the jugs off or just take the studs/bolts off with the old head ?

At your altitude, i would say a 20 or 21 dome would work well. I ride at 4500 above sea level and run 21cc domes and put out 140lbs compression. They say over 150Lbs compression is where you have to begin upping your octane in your fuel. I can run as low as 19cc but they dont recommend them for much hill shootin without the crank being welded.
ADA also makes a head that has more coolant capacity and you can use the stock head studs. You have to change them on the pro design head, but it is easy. Pro design seems to be what everyone is running, so it must be a good product.

I have a pro design cool head, with my toomey pipes, and it rips like none other. You don't have to take the jugs off, but you do have to change the studs. It's pretty easy, it took me a couple of hours to do mine. I would recommend the 20cc domes. I run 108 octane race fuel through mine, but if i can't get any the 20cc domes will handle regular fuel just fine. I was told that any smaller than 20cc domes then you HAVE to run the race fuel. Well, I just ordered a Pro Design cool head for my 98 Banshee. I went with the 20cc domes. I understand that I can get by with regular gas, but higher octane would be best. What kind of race gas should I use? Something like Turbo Blue, or can I just dump some octane boost into the fuel mixture? Also, does increasing the octane make the engine run hotter? Is that going to offset my attempt to make the engine run cooler by using the cool head? I don't have my crank welded and wasn't planning on it. Is that a mistake?

I'll be getting a PD cool head for my 99 Banshee in a couple of weeks, and I still haven't decided on 19cc or the 20cc domes. My crank hasn't been welded either. And I plan on racing Harescrambles this year in Minnesota, and was wondering if the crank can handle 19cc domes? I'll be using straight race gas regardless of which dome size I go with.

Just ordered a coolhead 19cc domes, the guy that is doing the work said no problem running pump gas with this dome. I am getting a set of FMF torque reed valves too and just put a set of Stage IV pipes on it. It screams now and can'twait to see the differance the coolhead and reed valves makes. I'm about 1000 ft elev.
UPDATE: no 19 cc domes around so its the 20 cc's for now. I am also having the FMF torque reeds installed and pick her up tomarrow. Oh yeah I will test it out at about 4:00pm on 4-5-2000 so I will tell you my openion then.

ive got a pro design on my 92 with 18cc domes and a trinity stage 4 on my 87 with 16cc domes (about 162lbs). 22cc is stock and if you go with even a 20cc you wont notice very much. the trinity was easyer to put on you dont need to change the studs. their about the same price. i like both. cooling is a big deal, the cooler you keep the cylinders (to a point) the more power you will make. and the longer your moter will last. dont forget to rejet!
