I have a chance to buy a 99 Warrior in good shape for a second machine. The catch is there is an engine problem. It will roll in neutral, but will not roll in gear. What could that be? Is it even worth buying?

Could it be a bad clutch? or do you mean the tranny is shot. Tranny is terriblly expensive to fix unless you do it yourself, then its hard **** work. If the tranny is good, i say go for it. Piston sieze isint much fun either, if its just the piston and no the rod though you might survive. Pretty much find out exactly whats wrong then find out how much its gonna cost to fix it. Then tack on some more cause theres always some more wrong with it i promise .

I am thinking it may be the piston. The guys wants 2350 for it.

You could have mine for almost that price if you wasnt so far away, just a hunch but does the guy pull in the clutch when he tries to roll it in gear?

I say this is a prime candidate fo a do it yourself assessment. I think you have to go over and see whats up, this guy could just be a total dumba$$ and not be pulling the clutch in or it could go the other way around but like JakalWarrior said it could just be the clutch if it's doing that. If you do go and test it let us know what you think,
PS listen for strange noises, even the smallest one will help and tell us about it,

Patrick

I talked to the guy on the phone again tonight. It will not start, so it is an engine problem.
