I have a friend that is interested in buying a used blaster, a 96 one. My question is, is it reliable, and if its not what are its problems????

thanks

Depends on how hard it was ridden. At the very least I would check the front a-arms, rear axle and swingarm bearings for too much play. Check the brakes, blasters are notorious for brake problems. Check the oil and fluids. Also, check the chain wear and sprockets. If he buys it, he should check the compression and redo the topend.

Ride it, test it out, run through stuff and look at it, my friend had a 97 and didn't have much of a problem at all.

Blasters dont have problems lol. Take it for a run. A good way to see if he has kept on maintainence is get on it and rock side to side. If you can feel the axle rattle inside the carrier the bearings are shot. If the person is to cheap or lazy to change bearings dont bother buying it its beats.. good luck
