Going to buy a new quad.
#1
Right now I ride a 350 yamaha moto 4, its a utility quad but its all I have right now. I'm going to be getting a new one soon and need help deciding on one to get. I like the Yamaha Warrior and the Suzuki Z-400. I mostly trail ride but I do climb hills, jump once in awhile ,and go mudding sometimes. I'd like to know which one is easier to maintain and what one I won't have to spend the most money on buying new bearings etc.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Well... If you are considering a $5000+ Suzuki z-400, I dont think you will need to worry about 30 dollar bearings once every 5+ years. If I were you, I would go for a used 96-02 400ex. But I dont know your price range. The Warrior and the Z are VERY VERY different machines and have their own pros and cons. One being that the warrior is a time proven quad that has been around since the late 80's and still around with out any significant change. On the other hand, the Z is new to 03 and Im sure still has its own bugs to work out. I say get to know your quads and consider many companies. Dont just go out and buy what "looks" good. But if you can afford that, then forget everything I have just said...

banshee- they started making the 400ex in '96?
If i were you id get the z400 if the money is their to buy it. You say now you don't jump or trail ride agressivley so the warrior will be fine but once u start riding you want to push the bike to its limits, go for the Z if possible.

I realize this. Ever since 96, the 400ex has been one of the best 4 stroke sport ATVs ever produced. I know we can argue with this forever. But before the wave of "big bore" atvs came around, the 400ex was on top and is still a very very good quad. It may not be the fastest or most innovative out there, but it has held its own ever since its came out. That is why I said go with a 96-02. Honda just doesnt go out there and throw a 400cc engine in a quad with out having something to base it on. Honda had a very good quad to base the 400ex on, that being the 250R. Honda is known for refinement of their products, and not new innovative things. Thats why we didnt see a new 650ex this year, we saw refined racnchers. Yes, I was disappointed too, but I should have seen it coming.

Thanks guys. I don't ride that aggressive now, i open it up once in awhile on the trails heh my shocks are shot on the quad i got right now.. its 17 years old lol. Once i get a sportier one i'll start riding aggressive and doing more stuff.. jumping etc. something to learn on and keep for awhile to keep learning and doing hardcore stuff. i can spend as much money as i want.

one big problem with the Z is that Suzuki makes it. I know they have the gixxers and such but ever since I have started in this business they have made the 4th best product of the big 4. for what u are describing you can get a 400ex or a warrior for about like 800 less then a Z or KFX so I would do that.
plus look at the aftermarket for the 400 ex.... I would be afraid to amke the suzuki faster cause it prob cant handle hwhat it got already. although that isa great quad too if it was any company but suzuki and kawi making it I would have owned it instead of the rapt
