Raptor Head Porting
#1
Anyone out there ported their raptor head themsleves? Anyone have any tips, I am in the process of getting the dremel busy,
Looks like the valve seats are a huge obstruction, Yamaha did not do a very good job, no make that a terrible job of machine work on my head, two of the intakes seats and both exaust seats were actually off from center about 1/16 of an inch, leaving a ridge on one side and a gap the other. that had to be causing alot of uneeded swirling, It has been rectified with a little dremel work!
I have port matched and polish the exaust ports and cleaned the intake up a bit by removing all casting marks, trying to leave them a little rough to help the turbulance (fuel mix)
Anyone educated or maybe seen a head on a flow bench and have any ideas of places a little metal may need to be removed? I know I dont want to increase the overall cc of the ports much and I definately dont want to hit water!!! but if there is a little spot or two that can be thinned to make a diff I would like to know about it,
Thanks for any info
