Default Warrior cutting out

I have a 2001 warrior that cuts out in the top end. I have it jetted to waht FMF recomends and then did some adjusting myself. I have a K&N with 12 holes in the air box lid. It cuts out when WOT. I have checked the valve clearence, the accelorator pump (or diaphram), messed with the jetting some more, checked the ignition system and all the wiring. and now I am at a loss. What do I do now??

Sounds like you might have an air leak? Have you checked for any?

superoucho, couple other things come to mind. the stock warrior valve springs, at least in my experience, are a bit weak and prone to valve float at higher rpm. Mine did as you mentioned at WOT - HIGH RPM before new valve springs. It does no longer... I did other changes so I cannot say that the valve springs specifically were the fix. I would also check the carb float level, possible you are sucking the fuel bowl dry.

If you mean when you just jam it to WOT check that little plunger that the plastic arm on the thottle pushes down, the one with the boot. Make sure it pushes down easy and comes back up on its own. If you mean when your riding and keep it at WOT first check all your gas lines to make sure they arent kinked, also pull off the gas line from the tank and put a cup under it and see if the petcock (I hate that word) flows good, try that, if not fixed then put in a new plug, run it as close to wide open as you can and do a plug check.

Well I was thinking yesterday after I had posted this. The last thing that I did was clean the air filter (K&N) so I changed it back to the stock one and the problems for the most part went away. Now It is cutting out because It is running rich, cause I can smell raw fuel. Can you over oil K&N filter?? I am wondering if I did and it was not able to pull the air through the element that it needed at WOT.

Put the K&N back in and put some tape up about half of it with some masking tape (tape with weak glue that wont mess it up when u pull it off, dosent have to be masking tape) and see if it runs better or worse. If it runs better get a bigger main jet, if it runs worse take off the k&n and blow throgh it as hard as you can and get some of the oil out of the air passages and try again. I dunno about over over oiling one but even over oiled it is "suposed" to flow better than stock
