Default Did some dragging this weekend

Ran accross a group of fellow atv'ers this weekend and wound up doing some drags. The results were what I expected, got beat by most but fun still. Everyone was real eager to whoop up on the fat man riding the Warrior.

Raptor- completely blew me away, it was fun watching the guy try and keep the front wheels down and stop at the end of the track. Very large mud hole awaited you unless you had the nads to take a good left hander at high speed.
Z400 - again, walked off and left me. had an aftermarket pipe on it. Sure sounded good.
400EX - we ran 3 different times since it was the closest run. He got me by 2- 3 bike lenghts. We were dead even until the very top end where he would pull me in 5 and 6th gear. I out weighed him by at least 100 pounds.

Did manage to pull a 300EX and my buddy on his warrior. Great fun

Wouldnt you have more top end if you got rid of the torque stuffer, then be able to stay with the 400ex?

Possibly gain an hp or 2 by removing the torque stuffer but I do much more hill climbing than dragging. I want the torque.

Cool. The cam and piston help much? I just bought something similar and should get my engine back tomorow. My engine is set up for total top end so I probably just made something I cant ride at my only riding places. Wasnt thinking real hard when I was buying parts. Just rode a 440ex and said..... eww.. I want my engine like this but with mreo top end and less mid range. Forgot that all I ride is tight woods and climbs with the occasional ramp or grade. More I think about it worse I feel about it lol.

Sounds like fun Maniac, I too get left behind by my friends Raptor. But I get to smoke the 300ex, I am going to do some similar mods to mine soon. Going to mess with the sprockets too, id like more Topend and still have some lowend.

Jakal, yes the cam and piston helped alot. I can't say that the seat of the pants told me it did so much as racing my my buddy who has a 2000 Warrior. We ride alot together and before each mod we would line up. Stock for stock even with my extra 100 lbs I would pull him by about 2 bike lengths. After the mods I pull him by 6-8 bike lengths, the pull is much better 3rd thru 6th gear. I also notice much more power down low on the hill sides. I could barley take off from a stop on hillsides without major clutch feathering. It hauls my big tail a bit easier now.
