Default Hole in Banshee Case

Hello all! I was wondering if any of you Banshee Tech wizards can help me out with question I have? I just purchased a used Banshee and when I removed the engine, I noticed a hole in the lower case. The hole is about a 1/4" around and is located in the deepest recessed area of the case. Question is, Is this a place of the case where no oil circulates? Are there any internal components in this area. Reason I am asking is because it seems as if no oil has leaked out, whole area has no dirt or grease near it, it's all clean. The transmission is not locked-up and doesn't make any funky sounds. I hope you understand what area of the case I am speaking of? It looks almost as if the bottom of the case meets the top, thats how deep this recessed area looks. Is it going to hurt anything? Can I just clean it up and put some JB Weld in there? This is where there is a hole
I think the hole is inside here
If anyone can give me some insight on what to do, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

DON"T WELD IT!!!!! That hole should go all the way through to the top. It lets dirt, gas, water, etc fall instead of getting stuck below the carbs.

So what you are saying is that the hole is supposed to be there? Wouldn't that prevent the vaccum for the intake?

Alky is correct. That lets stuff fall through instead of accumulating on top of the case. You can tell that hole is supposed to be there right??? Its smooth and machined.

No, the hole is not smoothed and machined! It is not the same hole as highlighted in the 2nd pic. The 2nd pic just shows where the hole would come to. The hole is in the underside of the lower case, as seen in pic one. I think that the area is hollow and would come all the way up to the highlighted area in the 2nd pic . Understand??? Maybe I will take a pic of it this week to get confirmation that it is allright.

OK, I get what you're saying. Still as long as it doesn't go into the engine from the outside you should be fine. It's not as if it was made from a rock or something and jagged right???

No, the hole isn't that big. But how am I to be sure that it doesn't go into the crankcase or tranny without splitting the cases? The idea that it still holds oil and doesn't spew fluid anywhere leads me to believe that the hole goes into an area that contains no internal components or oil. But does the lower case really have hollow spaces like this? And if everything is allright, shouldn't I still JB Weld it to protect it slightly?

Ok, I guess the pics weren't of your cases since you said you don't want to split the cases. Do this; below the carbs, on top of the case you will see the hole(s) below the carbs. Stick a wire or something flexible down that hole(s) and see if the wire comes out where you are seeing the hole on the bottom. I'm sure this is the same hole you're talking about but I'm not inclined to jack up my Banshee to check it for you.

I'm sure it's perfectly fine and made that way.

Well thanks fellas! Looks like you were right from the beginning. I took a coat-hanger and ran it into the hole, it just kept going through. I flipped the engine back over and saw the wire coming through the hole below the intake manifolds. It turns out that the "cleansing" hole was hit by a rock or something and just made the opening jagged and beveled. Thanks for you help AlkyBurninX and WyoDuner. Your knowledge and expertise has been greatly appreciated!!!
