Just bought first 4 wheeler, (2000 Warrior). When I start it on first level choke, and use the reverse it locks in reverse and the clutch will not disengage. I need to stall it to stop? Does anyone know if reverse should not be used with choke? or am I doing something wrong?

I don't know about the choke part. I always let my quad warm up completely before moving it. I have never had any problems with this. I am assuming that you are saying when you pull in the clutch, you just keep going...

Dr. Duster thinks this may be your problem. Clutch plate freezing. The fiber clutch plates will stick to the steel driven clutch plates. Although this problem is not characteristic in Warriors, I wouldn't completely rule it out.

Occasionally this will happen with a new quad or one that's not rode real regular. What happens is the engine oil drips of the clutch plates. When they get dry they will stick together. After engine power (stalling too I assume) forces the plates apart, you will not have the problem again. The plates get covered with oil, thus preventing the problem.

If the problem persists, you may have yourself some bad fiber plates or a rough steel driven plate. I'd nip it in the bud quickly and expect a free replacement from the dealer since it's a 2000 model.

It's nothing to do with the choke. You need to let the machine warm up a little bit as the oil in the clutch is still cold and thick it wont allow it to disengage properly. My Warrior did the same thing when it was new. Let it warm up for a couple of minutes and you wont have any troubles. It is also possible that your clutch is not properly adjusted.

Thank you both for your replys. Being a two stroke guy, perhaps I need to be more patient and let it warm up!
