#1
How hard is it to switch an axle on a Y2K Banshee? It looks pretty easy but looks can be so decieving. i have done alot of work on my quads but never the axle this is the first one that i have bought that the dealer didnt put a dura blue on and nows its bent. Do i need a pro to do it or can i?

You should be able to do the work just fine....
especially if it's a 2000....the bolts should not be all stuck up.
I would loosen all the nuts while the wheeler is sitting on the ground......(2) axel nuts, (2)hub nuts. Then you can put the wheeler on a brick or crate or something and have at it.
Of course you will have to remove the brake caliper( but no need to drain it, just let it hang) once you get the axel stripped down (tires, hubs, brakes, chain) the axel should be free to slide out of the bearing carrier. Since your axel is already bent....A few knocks with a hammer and a 2x4 should free it right out the other side of the carrier.
Depending on how bad you bent the axel....now might be a good time to think about replacing the bearings as long as it's appart. A bent axel can cause all kinds of bearing trouble.
Everything else should slide right off the axel.
Remember to lubricate it good when you put it back together...and also check the tightness of the axel nuts after you run it for the first time after the install.
Good luck.
