You said this was your first ride since the rebuild ?? If you used any carb cleaner for cleaning parts this could be the white smoke. Some cleaners are much worse then other at doing this, and it takes allot longer then you would think to burn it all off. If you didn't use carb cleaner then it sounds like antifreeze which others have already covered. Hope this helps, let us know what it was.
