white smoke... jetting or coolant?
Need a little help, I just recently got the top end back together and for the first time, took it out for a ride today.
(this is a quadzilla BTW, posted in yami because of the knowledgable traffic)
It runs really good and very strong, but a white smoke exhaust is visible.
Could this be the head gasket leaking from the inside? (no external leaks)
Or is this lean or rich jetting?
Any input is appreciated. Thanks guys.

The Zilla has a new plug, but still has the same jetting as before the carb bore, and head mill.
I THINK the bike was running rich before I did these mods, so with the carb opened up.. (and the same main jet) it might be better now.
I could be wrong.
What is white colored smoke? Is it coolant? or is coolant more a bluish color. or could it be that my bike hasnt run in a few weeks? (blowing it out)

Check your water pump seal. the white smoke you are talking about is an indicator of a water leak. Check your crank case oil, if here is a white film(or looks like there is mixture of oil and water) at the top and it seems that there is too much oil, thens its the water pump seal. They are prety easy and cheap to replace.

Well, I havnt been able to open it up in the sand, or up a hill, but on my street, It feels ALOT stronger.
To wheelie a big long bike like a Zilla so easy is pretty impressive. (using low RPM torque only and no clutch) I cant wait to take it to the sand.
PS... Ill check the exhaust for coolant smell tomorrow...

If you smell burnt sugar, then it is coolant. Ethelene Gycol (antifreeze) has a close chemical composition to glucose (sugar). This is why antifreeze tastes sweet and is liked by animals. When it is burned, it smells like burnt sugar or burnt carmel. Also, If it is the head gasket, you should be able to take the radiator cap off and see air bubbles coming up through the coolant. Also, when the engine is cool, put your hand over the radiator with the cap off and you should feel pressure escaping if the head gasket is bad. Your plug should also be clean if you are burning a lot of water. There also might be water drops on the plug when you remove it.
My guess, you increased compression past the capabilities of running pump gas (or you ran 87 instead of 93 octane) and detonation caused the head gasket to melt and blow. Take the head off and see if there isn't an area about 1.5" where the metal ring is missing.
Let us know what happens.
