tire changing

Buy a bead breaker from one of the magazine ads. Stock tires are the hardest to break.
The trick is to work your way around the rim slowly. You will not break the bead on the first try. Basically, you need to loosen the bead most of the way around before you finally get it stretched over the groove in the rim. If you weigh under about 180 lbs, you will most likely need help with someone standing on the rim.
Soap and water help too.
You need a good set of tire irons too for getting the tire off the rim. Buy at least one that is about 17" long or so. The stubby ones are okay as helpers but you really need one long one for leverage.
