does anyone know anything about what duneme says?

YamahaRaptor660R,

Just take it easy on the tranny. When you use reverse, make sure you very gently and firmly put it in reverse, and when done, very gently put it into 1st. Make sure it is fully in gear before moving. (You will get what I mean when you put it into reverse).

Just be gentle with the reverse. And make sure you make a firm shift into 2nd. Don't over power it, but don't just tap it. Remember, it is just a shift linkage, and there are shift forks, but it is most important that you make full shifts, not half shifts.

I have had no problems at all with my 2001. I am expecting it to go at some time, and i will replace it with Yamaha 2002 gears when it happens. But I bought mine 2 months after they were available here in Canada. And I have been loving it ever since..........

thats some advice ill take into consideration the kind of trail ridin i do im not really flyin through the gears a whole lot or usin reverse for that matter and i have been paying really close attention to the 2nd gear shifts but im hopin itll hold out for atleast 3-4 more months
